Update 9 - Back to Circuit ICAR

After completing the double header in Ohsweken, L.P. and Dumoulin Competition are back in Quebec for round 12 of the NASCAR Pinty's Series. The clay surface of Ohsweken Speedway presented a different challenge for race 10 & 11, one that Dumoulin was up for. The first race of the double header would start well as L.P. battled for the top 10, until a late restart. "It's special to drive there, especially since we had very little time in free practice before the qualifying races. On Monday, the car was set too hard on the rear axle but I still managed to fight for the top 10. Unfortunately, during the last restart, I was hit by another driver and I lost 8 positions. I managed to win back 2 to finish the race 16th," shares L.P.

Race two of the double header would be very different in contrast, but also a huge milestone, as this marked L.P. Dumoulin's 150th career NASCAR Pinty's start! The team worked hard after testing, changing the setup of the #47 car. Due to the work done in the paddock, L.P. would start last on the grid. "In the race, I was able to quickly appreciate the changes made and I started my progression towards the front. I finally fought for the top 6, which I reached at the finish. 5th place was my goal but moving up from 24th to 6th in such an event is really satisfying. It ends well this journey to Ohsweken which had started in a complicated way" says L.P.

The next round of the NASCAR Pinty's Series takes place on August 26 at ICAR. "We have a good idea of our set-up for this road circuit and I'm very confident for this race. I thirst for victory and ICAR is close to home. Family, friends, many of our sponsors will be present. I think we can get an excellent result there," shares Dumoulin.

Update 8 - Dirt Racing at Oshweken!

After a Herculean effort at GP3R, L.P. and the Dumoulin Competition team head to Ohsweken Speedway for back-to-back oval track dirt racing! Trois-Rivières, the hometown of Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the site for race nine. With packed grandstands and the support of the home crowd, L.P. was looking for nothing less than a win, starting from P2 on the grid. Unfortunately during the opening lap, disaster would strike.

A big collision occurred involving the #74 and #27 cars. Dumoulin managed to escape, however the #47 car sustained some damage and would drop L.P. to 24th on the grid after only one lap. "I thought the race was over for us because the impact of car 74 which took off behind me was violent. My crews changed this tire and when I returned to the track, I immediately felt that the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab was still performing very well. We then took advantage of the laps under yellow flag to return to the pits on the 2nd lap to change the 4 tires, then another time to refuel, on the 6th lap, just before the race was restarted" Says L.P.

After the restart, L.P. put on a performance as he clawed his way back to take the race lead on lap 25. He would take the checkered flag with a solid performance finishing in 2nd place. "At the forefront, we fight for tenths of a second. This series is incredibly competitive. At GP3R, we had a good car, a good strategy and I think my comeback was a great show for the fans. I would of course have wanted to win but I could have lost everything at the 2nd corner. All in all, it’s a great event for us, which also allows me to win a place in the championship standings" says Dumoulin." The NASCAR Pinty's Series now heads to Ohsweken Speedway for the only two dirt races on the calendar. L.P. and the #47 team will look for strong performances as they currently sit in 4th position of the championship standings.

Update 7 - GP3R

Coming off a successful western road trip with two podium finishes in three races, hometown favourite L.P. Dumoulin looks for another strong performance at the historic Grand Prix De Trois-Rivières.

Race 6 in Edmonton kicked off the start of the western swing, where L.P. and the #47 car engaged in battle, fighting for position in the lead group. Dumoulin would go on to complete 300 laps and earn his first podium of the season!

With no time to rest, the team then set their sights on the doubleheader race in Saskatoon which took place only four days after the race in Edmonton. Dumoulin and the #47 car are no strangers to Saskatoon, having already picked up wins in 2014 and 2019. This doubleheader, however, would bring a roller coaster of emotions as contact with the wall in race 7 dropped L.P. to P18.

"The car was still very good at the start of the first race and I was aiming for a top 5. Unfortunately, I got pushed against the wall when I was on the outside line. It wasn’t a big contact but it was enough to break a piece which forced me to go back to the pits. Our techs repaired it but since there were no retirements or even full-course yellow for the rest of the race, it was impossible to hope to finish better than 18th." shares L.P.

Update 6 - Bayer 300 in Edmonton

With another strong performance and a top 5 finish in Toronto, Louis-Philippe remains in close range for the top spot in the drivers standings.

"I was very happy with our qualification but I knew it would be a tough race for the cars. I wanted to be patient during the first laps and lost a place, but the main problem was that I had to deal with oversteer. I also had trouble with the power, the wheels were spinning pretty fast. Under these conditions, being able to stay in the top 5 was the maximum possible." shares L.P.

Louis-Philippe and the #47 team now begin their west coast swing with three races in a span of five days! "These three races pass quickly and, within a short week" says L.P. "There are big points to pick up there and I have always had good results on these circuits. I like the atmosphere of these events, it’s always a special trip for us and I can’t wait to start it."

Update 5 - Rev & Run at the Grand Prix of Toronto

Following the NASCAR race on July 14th, experience what it’s like to run on the Exhibition Place Street Circuit at the Rev & Run 5000m + 1000m, presented by WeatherTech.

The 5K course is two laps of the NASCAR track - still rubbered in from the street race - and the 1K course is a walk/jog through Pit Lane. Kids 12 and under can run the 1K course alongside L.P. Dumoulin.

Proceeds support the local Parkdale Community Food Bank, plus all participants receive a medal, hat, race day photography, and more!

Update 4 - Eastbound International Speedway in Newfoundland!

With a P8 finish at Eastbound International Speedway, L.P. sits just 34 points out of the top spot in the driver standings. The #47 has performed strong and consistently after 4 events, and with plenty of racing left, L.P. and Dumoulin Competition are confident in climbing the ranks.

The NASCAR Pinty's Series heads back to Ontario for the Grand Prix of Toronto!

Update 3 - After the Victoria Day Speedfest at CTMP

After a strong performance at CTMP, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin will look to climb the point standings as he returns to Quebec for round 3 of the NASCAR Pinty's Series.

"The first Quebec race of the season. Can't wait to get there, for us it's pretty much our home track (Chaudière)" says L.P. "We test there very often and we have a pretty good baseline. We are pretty confident that our WeatherTech #47 car will be fast"

The 3rd race of the season takes place tomorrow (June 10th) at Autodrome Chaudière.

Update 2 - After Sunset Speedway

L.P. Dumoulin and the #47 car finished P7 at Sunset Speedway taking home some valuable points.

The car showed strong pace as it managed to climb up to P4 by the end of the first half but struggled with a tight car after tire pressure adjustments. Despite the small setback, L.P. and the Dumoulin Competition remain optimistic about the rest of season as both cars show great potential.

Race 2 kicks off this Sunday with the Victoria Day SpeedFest at CTMP!

Update 1 - Season Opener (May 12, 2023)

After a tough 2022 season, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the Dumoulin Competition team are ready to fight for another championship title.

The team worked hard during the off-season to improve both the oval-track and road-course car. Before heading to Innisfil Ontario for race 1, the team paid a visit to Autodrome Chaudiere Vallée-Jonction to shake down the #47.

The 2023 NASCAR Pinty’s Series kicks off this Saturday at Sunset Speedway!
